This is a very special weekend, as we will tie in our April Camp with rehearsals, masterclasses, and a concert with the world famous Dallas Brass! This concert will also include the members of the FVL and MLHS bands, as well as the members of the FVL Schools Concert Winds and the Manitowoc Lutheran Middle School Concert Winds.
LVW members will not need to purchase a ticket for the concert. Tickets for all others are $15, and are available HERE.
Most of Saturday's rehearsal will include preparations for the Dallas Brass concert. LVW Color Guard members who play an instrument will also participate in the Dallas Brass sessions and concert. All LVW members should bring their concert instruments with them for Saturday, and their LVW instruments for Sunday.
We will use the following schedule on Saturday:
- 1:45-3:00 PM High School rehearsal with Dallas Brass (will include LVW, FVL and MLHS band members)
- 3:15-4:30 PM Masterclass with all high school and middle school band members
- 4:45-5:30 PM Middle School rehearsal with Dallas Brass (will include middle school band members from FVL and MLHS)
- 5:45 PM Supper for all participating band students (served in the FVL Commons – Provided by Music Associates)
- 7:00 PM Concert begins
Rehearsal will begin on Saturday as posted above, and will conclude at 4:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. Please plan on arriving at least 15 to 20 minutes early on Saturday. The rehearsal will begin promptly at 1:45 PM. Please check with your school’s director/LVW coordinator for travel plans to and from the rehearsal.
We are still seeking new members for 2016! It is not too late to join, so members are strongly encouraged to bring someone new to the April camp, even if the new students are not sure if they will join for this summer. There is no obligation to attend camp, and there is no cost to attend the camp.
We will run a bus from Shoreland as usual for this camp. Please indicate on the RSVP if you intend to ride the bus.
Please RSVP for the rehearsal, even if you are unable to attend but intend to participate in 2016. The RSVP form is also found on the LVW website's homepage at www.lutheranvanguard.org.
We have a number of new registrations over the past few weeks! Thanks for taking care of this very important task. Some of our students may have not yet registered for LVW 2016. Please click on the "LVW 2015 Registration Form" link on the "Join" page. Once you have registered, you will begin to receive the billing statements and other important information.
You may bring forms and payments to this rehearsal. We have many of our student forms already. Thank you for your cooperation in getting the forms in on time! If you still need to turn in any forms (Medical, Permission, Conduct), links to the forms can be found on the LVW "Join" page.
Saturday's supper will be provided by the FVL Music Associates. Sunday breakfast/lunch will be provided by LVW. You will not need to bring any money for the meals - they are included in your fees for the year.
We will be providing a worship service at FVL on Sunday morning. Casual clothes are acceptable for this worship service.
You will need to pack an overnight bag with a change of clothes, overnight gear (Sleeping bag/blanket/pillow/air mattress/etc.), personal items (towel, soap/shampoo, deodorant, etc). We will be sleeping overnight at FVL. It may be a bit chilly overnight so an extra blanket may be a good idea.
For the Dallas Brass concert and performance on Saturday evening, you will need to bring GOOD SCHOOL/CHURCH clothes. Dallas Brass requests there be no tennis shoes, T-shirts, or sweatshirts worn on stage. Look your best for this public performance!
For marching rehearsals, you will need to have comfortable shorts or sweats. Please don’t wear “jeans” for marching/visual rehearsals. You will also need a pair of tennis shoes for use on the gym floor. You may also want to bring a water jug.
Don’t forget your instrument and music! If you will be using an LVW instrument (mellophone, baritone, tuba), you will need to bring your own mouthpiece. Reed players, please make sure you have a few working reeds for the rehearsal.
If this is your first rehearsal for 2016, you will be given your music and other LVW equipment on Sunday morning.
