Go to this link for a map of the Flags of Freedom PARADE ROUTE.  The judging area for the parade will be on Main Street in between Kroncke Drive and South Street.  Many of our Groupies will be there to cheer on LVW in this competitive parade.

The field show that evening will be one of the best of the year!  There are several groups in exhibition, including two drum and bugle corps.  We have seen the Kilties a few times this summer, but this will be the only appearance of the Colt Cadets in one of our MACBDA shows.  The Colt Cadets are from the same organization that fields the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, and are from Dubuque, Iowa.  You will enjoy the Colt Cadets' performance!  The average age of this group is similar, if not younger, than the other high school bands who will be performing in this show.

PLEASE NOTE - This show will be at Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School (CHUMS).  This is the "old" Sun Prairie HS.  It is located at 220 Kroncke Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590.

Whitewater Tickets Pick Up

6/30/2012

We had a tremendous response on the Whitewater ticket offer!  I have ordered 75 tickets for the LVW group.  These tickets will be held at Will Call at Perkins Stadium. James Neujahr will be picking them up and will distribute them to those that have ordered.

Mr. Neujahr will be near the fan entrance to the stadium between 5:00 and 5:30 PM (There is only one entrance for fans, which is on the south side of the stadium near the parking lots and the ticket windows).  Mr. Neujahr's cell phone number is 920-740-3924.  You can either pay by cash or check when you pick up your tickets.  Please make checks payable to "Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin."  Put "DCI Tickets" on the check memo.

The tickets are all in section "C" and are from rows 28 - 36, so the viewing should be spectacular!

Here is the information previously posted about the Whitewater show:

LVW, along with the Racine Lighthouse Brigade, the Sound of Sun Prairie, and the Shadow Armada from Oregon will be performing in exhibition at the DCI show in Whitewater on Friday, July 6.  This show is one of only a handful of DCI shows that will be held in Wisconsin this year.  Beautiful Perkins Stadium, on the campus of UW-Whitewater, will be the setting.  This stadium was host to the very first Drum Corps International Championship back in 1972, and has continued to be an important stop for DCI over the years.  It will be an honor and a privilege for our band to march on the field and join many of DCI's top performing corps in one of the best shows in the entire Midwest this summer!

The order for the MACBDA bands in Exhibition that night will be as follows:

LVW - 5:52 PM

Lighthouse Brigade - 6:09 PM

Shadow Armada - 6:26 PM

Sound of Sun Prairie - 6:43 PM

National Anthem - 7:00 PM

DCI portion of the show begins at 7:08 PM

Colt Cadets - Dubuque, IA

Pioneer - Milwaukee, WI

Glassmen - Toledo, OH

Spirit of Atlanta - Atlanta, GA

Blue Stars - La Crosse, WI

Bluecoats - Canton, OH

Madison Scouts - Madison, WI

The Cavaliers - Rosemont, IL

Ticket information can be found on the DCI website HERE.

Student Information for June 28 - July 7

What to Bring

Sleeping bag and pillow

Air mattress (optional)

Swimsuit/Beach Towel

ONE SMALL suitcase and ONE carry-on bag for inside the bus – LABELED WITH NAME, ADDRESS, AND NAME OF SCHOOL. Please - no giant suitcases - we plan on doing laundry in the middle of the trip, so pack for five days, not twelve (See note below about laundry)

All personal items as needed (towel, soap and shampoo, five or six changes of clothes, DEODERANT, etc.)

BLACK SHOES AND SOCKS (a few pairs), Black A4 T-SHIRTS (two to several), CLEAN BLACK GLOVES, BLACK SHORTS FOR UNDER THE UNIFORM, GUARD APPAREL, ETC. (Note we have SIX shows and FIVE parades this trip!)

Instruments, reeds, oils, etc. – CASES MUST BE LABELED AS INDICATED ABOVE
Sunscreen, sunglasses, pencil, etc. In addition bring your water jug, comfortable marching shoes, hats, etc.

Nice clothes for church.

Spending money for souvenirs – We will be going to GREAT AMERICA on July 2, visiting NAVY PIER on July 4, and will be performing in and attending a DCI Show in Whitewater on July 6. The band members will need to provide one meal for themselves while at Great America, and one meal while at Navy Pier. It is hard to tell you how much money to bring, but figure the meal could average $10 - $15 if they eat at a restaurant, or less if they eat at food stands on the grounds. Obviously, the food at Great America will be pricey. They will also want some spending money for planned free time in Kenosha (Lakefront, downtown, etc). It is up to you how much to bring, but this gives you an idea of what money could be used for.

Summary for Spending Money:

Great America – One meal and other souvenirs
Navy Pier – One meal and souvenirs
DCI Show – All of the corps will have souvenir trailers with t-shirts, buttons, and so on.

We will be attending the 8:00 AM service at BETHANY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Kenosha on Sunday, July 1.  The address of the church is 2100  75th Street, Kenosha, WI 53143.  This is a communion service, and the LVW Choir will also be singing their selection "By Faith" during the service.  Directions to the church can be found HERE.  Pastor David Pagel is the father of LVW color guard member Elinor Pagel!

The carry-on bag will serve two purposes.  Students can put small personal items in the bag and have it for easy access while on the bus.  There are also several times during this trip where we will be changing out of uniform while away from our housing site at Shoreland.  Therefore, students will be using the carry-on bag for a change of clothes and to keep personal items such as phones, watches, money, and so on.  Please don’t forget your CARRY-ON BAG!!!!

Students will NOT need to pay for their admission to Great America.  That is covered in the fees for the summer.  Also, since we are performing in the DCI show in Whitewater, the kids do not need to pay for a ticket.

All students should pack a bag lunch for Thursday’s lunch, which will be eaten at Janesville upon arrival.

Please pack for five days, even though we will be gone for 10 days. We will be doing laundry on July 3. LVW will supply the quarters and the detergent for Laundry Day.

Checkout Procedures for Saturday, July 7

If you are going to be picked up following the show in Sun Prairie, and are not returning on the bus or with your school’s transportation, the following procedures MUST be followed:

Your parents must pick you up after the show. For this weekend, that will be on Saturday, July 7 at Sun Prairie High School. If you are picking up your child at Sun Prairie, you must be there when the band is ready to leave. If you are not there when the band is ready to leave, your child will come with the band.

Your parents must check you out with the attendance chaperone from your bus. This must be done with you and your parent present. If your parents are not there when the band is ready to leave, you will come with us. We leave no one behind – EVER!

You may not ride home with anyone else other than your parents UNLESS you have a written permission signed by your parents, and UNLESS that written permission is put into our hands. DON’T FORGET THE NOTE AT HOME, because there are NO EXCEPTIONS!
