May 1 Camp Information

4/25/2016

The May Camp will be held at WISCONSIN LUTHERAN HS, located at 330 Glenview Ave, Milwaukee WI 53213.  Rehearsal will begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday and will conclude at 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.  Please plan on arriving at least 15 to 20 minutes early.  Please check with your school’s director/LVW coordinator for travel plans to and from the rehearsal.

We are still seeking new members for 2016!  Because of drill writing and other show planning, this will likely be the last rehearsal where we can add new members. Members are strongly encouraged to bring someone new to the May camp, even if the new students are not sure if they will join for this summer.  There is no obligation to attend camp, and there is no cost to attend the camp.

There will be a bus traveling from Appleton to camp on Sunday.  It will leave the FVL parking lot at 10:45 AM.  Please do not be late.  FVL students should arrive no later than 10:30 to make sure the bus and all equipment is loaded before the 10:45 departure time.  The bus will also bring students back to Appleton on Sunday following the rehearsal.  It will arrive at FVL at approximately 7:15 PM.

Please note that there will not be a bus from Shoreland for this camp.

Please RSVP for the rehearsal, even if you are unable to attend but intend to participate in 2016.  The RSVP form is found on the LVW website's homepage at www.lutheranvanguard.org.

Most LVW students are registered for this coming summer.  Thanks for taking care of this very important task.  Some of our students may have not yet registered for LVW 2016.  Please click on the "LVW 2016 Registration Form" link on theHomepage or on the "Join" page.  Once you have registered, you will begin to receive the billing statements and other important information.

You may bring forms and payments to this rehearsal.  We have many of our student forms already.  Thank you for your cooperation in getting the forms in on time!  If you still need to turn in any forms (Medical, Permission, Conduct), links to the forms can be found on the LVW "Join" page.

For marching rehearsals, you will need to have comfortable shorts or sweats. Please don’t wear “jeans” for marching/visual rehearsals. You will also need a pair of tennis shoes for use on the gym floor.  You may also want to bring a water jug.

Don’t forget your instrument and music!  Reed players, please make sure you have a few working reeds for the rehearsal.

If this is your first rehearsal for 2016, you will be given your music and other LVW equipment when you arrive.

See you this weekend!

Updated Information for the Dallas Brass Rehearsal and Performance Day

4/11/2016

Things are going very well at FVL in our preparations for the Dallas Brass day.  It is sure to be a very memorable experience for FVL, MLHS, and LVW!

FVL and MLHS high school and grade school band members will be wearing Formal Wear for the concert.  For LVW members not from those two schools, please bring your formal wear.  If your school does not have formal wear, please wear black and white for the concert.  You may wear all black, or black pants/skirt/shoes and a white shirt.

Most of Saturday's rehearsal will include preparations for the Dallas Brass concert.  LVW Color Guard members who play an instrument will also participate in the Dallas Brass sessions and concert.  All LVW members should bring their concert instruments with them for Saturday, and their LVW instruments for Sunday.  Color Guard members who do not play a band instrument will be reviewing previous work, as well as basics.

Music for "American Tableau"
All of the FVL and MLHS students already have their music for "American Tableau", the selection we will perform with Dallas Brass.  For all students from other schools, please select from the following list the part that most closely reflects your CONCERT INSTRUMENT part you normally play in your school band.  Select the part, print it, practice it,  and bring it along with you on Saturday.

Flute      Clarinet 1     Clarinet 2     Alto 1     Alto 2     Tenor Sax     Trumpet 1     Trumpet 2     Horn 1     Horn 2
Trombone 1     Trombone 2     Euphonium     Tuba     Cymbals     Bass Drum     Bells     Xylophone     Auxiliary

Don't forget - we are still welcoming new members this rehearsal and performance weekend.  Bring along a friend or encourage them to attend the concert.

See you this weekend!
