Information for July 7 - 19 (Michigan and MACBDA Finals Week)

7/5/2014

Here is the itinerary for the upcoming trip to Traverse City and the week to follow leading up to the MACBDA Championships on July 19.

Please note that we are asking SLHS, WLHS, and KML students to arrive at FVL on MONDAY evening by 8:00.  We will be running the bus from Shoreland on Monday, July 7.  Because of the early departure on Wednesday morning (8:00 AM), we felt it was necessary to transport those students to FVL the night before.  Scheduled arrival time at FVL will be 8:00 PM.  We are asking host families to pick up students at FVL at 8:00 for one more night of housing, and meet at FVL on Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM.  Watch for the bus times to be emailed and also posted on the LVW Website when they are available.

For travel during this trip, students should bring along a small carry-on bag suitable for a change of clothes.  There will be times during the trip when we will change following a performance and we will not be bringing our full suitcases.  A small back pack or a drawstring bag will serve nicely for this purpose.

There are a few opportunities druing this trip for students to shop and purchase meals.  They are marked on the itinerary below, so please look carefully to determine the amount of money that will be needed for the trip.

Checkout Procedures for Saturday, July 19:

If you are going to be picked up following the MACBDA Finals Show, and are not returning on the bus or with your school’s designated transportation, the following procedures MUST be followed:

1.  Your parents must pick you up following the show. That will be on Saturday night, July 19 at UW-Whitewater's Perkins Stadium. Please pick up your child where the LVW buses are parked, as that will be where their luggage and other gear are located. Please be aware, if you are picking up your child, you must be there before the band is ready to leave. If you are not there when the band is ready to leave, your child will come with the band.

2.  Your parents must check you out with the attendance chaperon from your bus. This must be done with you and your parent present.

3.   If your parents are not there when the band is ready to leave, you will come with us. We leave no one behind – EVER!

4.  You may not ride home with anyone else other than your parents UNLESS you have a written permission signed by your parents, and UNLESS that written permission is put into our hands. DON’T FORGET THE NOTE AT HOME, because there are NO EXCEPTIONS!
