LVW Student information for Wednesday, June 19 - Sunday, June 23

6/17/2013

Here is information for the LVW members and chaperons as you prepare for the upcoming rehearsal and performance weekend.

PACK A BAG LUNCH for Wednesday, June 19.  Rehearsal begins at 10:00 AM.  All other meals will be provided by LVW.

We will be staying in camp host homes for Wednesday night. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night we will be staying overnight at FVL, so all LVW members and staff are to bring overnight gear for those nights.

Remember, you should pack for FIVE days, but try to utilize small suitcases and duffel bags. We will only be taking buses to the show in Greendale on Friday night, and we will not be bringing luggage or sleeping gear.  However, you WILL need to have a small carry-on bag for a change of clothes following the Greendale show.

Rehearsal camp will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. We will be leaving Friday afternoon for Greendale, and will be back at FVL for Friday night, Saturday for our HOME SHOW, and Sunday for the MACBDA Social event.

For the upcoming weekend, LVW will be entering our first competitive field shows of the 2013 season. Performances this weekend include the following:

Friday, June 21 - Field Show at Greendale HS, 7:30 PM
Saturday, June 22 - 2013 Vanguard Classic (HOME SHOW), 7:30 PM.
Sunday, June 23 - MACBDA Social event (LVW, Sun Prairie, Oregon, and Green Beret participating) will culminate with an exhibition by each band beginning at 6:30 PM.  Activities will be completed by about 8:00 PM.

The MACBDA Social Event on Sunday is primarily for LVW members and members of the visiting bands.  The bands will share “cook staff” and prepare and eat meals together.  We will have some opportunity for combined rehearsals in the morning to learn “America/O Canada” which the bands will perform en masse following the shows in Traverse City and Whitewater.  We will also be doing some combined section work with members of the other bands.  In the afternoon, we will have a few hours of recreation and social activities with the bands.  Therefore, students should bring along appropriate clothing for activities such as “ultimate Frisbee”, Disc Golf and swimming at Plamann Park, and so on.  This day will be a great opportunity to get to know members and staff from the other bands, as well as to Witness for our Savior and “let our light shine”!  The evening performance, set to begin at about 6:30, will be an exhibition for each of the bands so that we have an opportunity to watch each other’s shows.  It will be very informal, and will not be in uniform.  Since it is not an official show, there is no charge to come and watch if you so desire.  Sunday evening’s show will take place in the FVL Stadium.

On Saturday night following our home show, FVL will serve host to LVW, Sound of Sun Prairie, Shadow Armada, and the Green Beret.  Needless to say, the school building will get good use from all of our visitors.  We hope that the alarm system doesn’t malfunction while we are all sleeping!

LVW will be housed in the following locations this weekend:
Wednesday, June 19 - Host homes

Friday - Saturday, June 20 - 22 - FVL

Emergency contact information:
James Neujahr Cell Phone - 920-740-3924
Randy Kramer Cell Phone - 920-242-9835

Since this is a travel and performance weekend, LVW members should remember to pack the following:

Sleeping bag and pillow
Air mattress (optional)
ONE suitcase (Remember, we are on School Buses this weekend)
All personal items as needed (towel, soap and shampoo, change of clothes, DEODERANT, etc.)
BLACK SHOES AND SOCKS, BLACK A-4 T-SHIRTS, BLACK GLOVES, GUARD APPAREL, ETC. (Note we have two uniformed performances this weekend!)
Instruments, music, etc.
Water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable marching shoes, hats, etc.
We plan to have a devotion/service at FVL on Sunday morning.  Therefore, students will not need to bring “church clothes” for this weekend.

Clothing for Sunday’s social activities (good tennis shoes/flip flops, money and swim suit/towel for Plamann Park pool if they wish to go swimming, etc.)

Checkout Procedures for Sunday, June 23
If you are going to be picked up following the MACBDA Social event, and are not returning on the bus or with your school’s transportation, the following procedures MUST be followed:

1.  Your parents must pick you up following the Social performances. For this weekend, that will be on Sunday, at FVL. Please be aware, if you are picking up your child, you must be there before the band is ready to leave. If you are not there when the band is ready to leave, your child will travel with your school’s designated transportation (MLHS van, LHS cars, SLHS Bus).  Obviously, FVL students will not need special permission for going home!

2.  Your parents must check you out with Mr. Kramer, Neujahr, or Kubek. This must be done with you and your parent present.

3.  You may not ride home with anyone else other than your parents UNLESS you have a written permission signed by your parents, and UNLESS that written permission is put into our hands. DON’T FORGET THE NOTE AT HOME, because there are NO EXCEPTIONS!
